Natalee Holloway
OK, this has just gone to damn far. I’m not 100% heartless, but I can no longer give a shit about Nataee Holloway. Yes, it’s sad that she’s been kidnapped and probably murdered. Yes, I feel bad for her parents, and yes, I do think that this type of case deserve the full attention of the local authorities in Aruba.
That said, Natalie Hollaway is not a reason to attempt to destroy the lives of thousands. Yes, I’m talking about Gov. Bob Riley and his pleas to our nation to BOYCOTT an entire country because Beth Holloway-Twitty doesn’t like the way the authorities are dealing with the case. Shame on you Bob! You sir are a prime example of why more than half the world hates Americans!
This type of small-minded, elitist mentality is absolutely ABSURD.
I’d like to counter Mr. Rileys plea to boycott Aruba with a plea of my own - Lets all boycott Alabama until they’ve closed the books on EVERY kidnapping and murder in the state. Lets boycott Alabama on behalf of the families and victims of unsolved murder and rape. And finally, lets boycott Alabama for allowing their governor to embarrass this entire country by attempting to sabotage the lives and livelihood of an entire nation because the deep pockets of Natalie Holloways parents have turned the case of a missing-drunk-girl-who-wanders-off-with-strangers-in-a-forign country into a media frenzy.

You have a spelling error - the title is correct, but through out the rest of the post it is spelled Natalie, not Natalee. But then really?
Anyways, I completely agree with you. All this attention given to some “missing-drunk-girl-who-wanders-off-with-strangers-in-a-foriegn country” is there nothing more important going on in our country?
And, why aren’t those who chaperoned this trip being royally reamed and attacked? Shouldn’t they have been keeping an eye on her? Or are we just going with a “teenagers will be teenagers” thing? Quite honestly the parents and media are blaming the wrong people - the chaperones, and the parents themselves are to blame. It was their carelessness that allowed this girl to go missing in the first place. No, wait, that’s mean of me - they’ve lost their daughter, some amazing “light of their life” who was probably “snuffed out too soon”. Well, boo hoo. She probably snuck out to go drink with boys and have some fun, she picked the wrong guys to go with - her fault.
Let’s blame another government for all our problems - OH WAIT! We already do!!! Just because another country has not fallen to the “American Way” of doing things does not mean that it is bad.
We’re told to accept diversity, and differences, and everything else - but when it comes down to it, we only need to accept differences when it works for us, when it’s an inconvenience, well, it’s their fault. Couldn’t possibly be OUR fault, because we’re perfect Americans.
And another thing - does anyone else find it odd that when a child goes missing the only coverage you see is about how wonderful the child was? Why aren’t the parents a little more pissed? I know my parents, while sad for my loss, would probably be feeling slightly “what the fuck were you thinking? did you forget kindergarten? the part about not going off with strangers? not going to strange places alone? making sure an adult knows where you are at all times?” I mean, come on, FUCKING LOGIC!!!!!
Basically, America is full of morons who think that everyone should bow to OUR needs, and gladly bend over and take anything we give them.
I blame Leichtenstein for all of my issues and problems.
November 11th, 2005 13:55
Also, we should not take liberties with names - Natalie is spelled N-A-T-A-L-I-E, not, I repeat, NOT : N-A-T-A-L-E-E.
If you can’t spell it don’t use it.
November 30th, 2005 07:28
if beth twitty thinks aruba is such a hell-hole, why did she allow her daughter to go there for a 7 day ‘vacation”?
should one of the parents—a father, mother, stepfather, stepmother have accompanied this child on this trip out of the USA?
now we see the parents, uncles, aunts, grandmother, school coaches and friends all demanding her to be returned…..perhaps she should have been supervised a little more to PROTECT her—a child!!!
November 30th, 2005 07:35
these parents and step parents, as well as the aunts and uncles, are all from the South.
does anyone else notice how poorly these people speak?
they all mangle the “King’s English” with singular subjects and plural verbs, plural subjects with singular verbs and other terrible grammar usages. when almost any one of them speaks—dave, beth, jug, linda, it
seems to show that their mother and father must certainly be brother and sister…..
did any of these people finish high school?
or grade school??????

Maybe you are tired of hearing about Natalie. It is not her parents fault. It is the fault of the person or persons who did something to her.If you get mugged walking down the street-is it your fault for being on that street or the fault of the mugger? You would feel very differantly if it was your child.
April 19th, 2006 10:50
Your an idiot!
April 20th, 2006 12:53
Joan,
I’m sorry to hear you feel this way. You’re obviously one of those people that don’t believe in parents taking responsibility for their children.
Being a fater, I sure as hell would not allow my child to wander around a forign country, drunk and without supervision of any sort.
Face facts, Ms. Twitty is an irrisponsible parent and has done a great job of being a media whore. As much as I feel every criminal should be punished for their illegal actions, I think every parent should be equally punished for their irrisponsibility.
Attack the problem at the root of the cause.
April 20th, 2006 18:13
Danita-you must be the idiot with your 3 word comment. And Mr.Father,to me it does not matter if Natalie were in aruba or a trip to the beach in America. Many young people go on vacation after graduation and have for many many years. It is a tradition in our country. But if someone does them harm it is the fault of that person.Regardless of where she was no one has a right to harm another person.Do you have teenagers and if so do you know everything they do when you are not around?I raised 6 sons-all grown now. They are good men and they were good boys. But I am not foolish enough to think they were perfect when they were not right with us at home.Maybe tho you were a perfect child and maybe your children are too.I dont blame Mrs.Hollaway-if it were my child I would do everything in my power to find out what happened to them. She has the money so good for her.I guess you would not be a media whore, you would just what-accept it and go on with your perfect life.Well God bless you and yours.
May 1st, 2006 02:55
Joan,
I appreciate your opinion - I really do. My child has just entered his teens and I’m sure I’ll be in for a hell of a ride.
The facts are that nearly 900,000 thousand people are reportd missing in the US every year… Over 80% of them are juveniles and altough most of the cases are quickly solved, over 5% of them are not. 5% = ~50,000 kids. 50,000 kids snatched up - in most cases taken from responsible parents doing EVERYTHING in their power to keep their kids safe.
Now, I dare you - or anyone else for that matter - to name 5 … Hell, name 3 - without a google search.
The sad truth is that you probably can’t.
So, please - explain to me how anyone can justify the amount of media attention Natalie is getting … Don’t justify it to me, but justify it to the parents of the other 49,999 missing kids. Help me understand why I shouldn’t be disgusted by the fact that some major media outlets are still giving this story hours of attention every week while never bothering to mention the thousands of others - you know, the kids that don’t have parents with deep pockets?
You are spot-on about one thing though - if it were my child I would do everything in my power to bring the case to closure. But I’d like to think I’d do it in a way that helped raise awareness for the masses of others. If I were Ms. Twitty, I’d be pointing out my own lack of parenting skills in hopes of making other parents realize that their #1 priority should be protecting their children and being responsible parents.
June 9th, 2006 01:35
Oh, and Joan - not that you check here anymore, but just in case - please notice that you have misspelled Ms. Holloway’s name each time you have mentioned it here. For someone with such a stick up their butt about the whole issue, I’d at least think you’d have the common courtesy or brains to spell the girl’s name properly (or as her parents meant it to be spelled… they misspelled it also).
It’s “Natalee”, not the common spelling “Natalie”.
August 5th, 2006 02:01
Ok, number one, is NATALIE listed in the dictionary? Nope… sure is not. So I am assuming you, GIRL, decided the right way to spell the name and the wrong way? Apparently we should just refer to you as Webster?! Ok, just checking. Number two, Im sure if you went missing (which obviously wouldn’t be a tragedy considering the kind of person you appear to be) your parents WOULDN’T be bitching about how stupid you were for not thinking back to KINDERGARTEN when you learned not to go with strangers. Im pretty sure if you had gone missing they wouldn’t be silently cursing you out in their heads instead of worrying. What parent does that?! And another thing, GIRL- If America is such an awful place, why do you reside here? Move away… maybe to Aruba where you could be abducted, but can’t get angry at them for not searching for you because it’s not their responsibility! Last but not least- you all blame the parents and guardians of the trip for her disappearance… “who would let their child go to a foreign country” blah blah blah… she was 18. Even if my parent’s hadn’t wanted me to go- I would’ve if I wanted to. Whats the difference between walking down the beach in Aruba or walking down the beach in California, if that wasn’t where you were from? Heartless idiots.

September 7th, 2006 00:35
This is pretty much a done subject, but I’ll humor you with a reply …
First of all, you’re an idiot.
Are you currently boycotting your own city? You know… For the thousands of unsolved missing persons cases? Should we all?
As I’ve said before — I feel bad for anyone that looses a child, I’m not that heartless, but the fantastic efforts of Ms. Twitty to assassinate an entire country because of one missing person are simply stupid.
Maybe you should re-focus your misdirected anger toward the Chicago PD and Mayor Daley… Or are the thousands missing there less important? Maybe boycotting Chicago hits a bit too close to home for ya?
December 15th, 2006 15:30
Okay, first of all- I find it comforting to know taht the entire country has not been swallowed up by this whole ‘Boycott Aruba’ thing. If you really want to boycott something- avoid the areas in Aruba known for their high crime rate. The U.S. has its ghettos too.
Secondly- I honestly believe that Ms. Twitty (or whatever she wants to be called) is just trying to prolong her daughter’s 15 minutes of fame. I am truly sorry for Natalee, but her mother is just holding out for a touching eulogy from every citizen of the country.
Lastly- Heather, typing in all caps does not make your argument more persuasive. It makes you seem ignorant, and repels people from reading what you write.
December 18th, 2006 22:01
I appreciate knowing the dangers of sending my child over seas. Are one of you idiots parents?
i’m not an alarmest but the value of my child’s life outweighs any “overkill” of media attention. I will NEVER send my children on a senior trip anywhere to protect their lives because of the loss of Natalie.
December 29th, 2006 15:05
Wow — it’s the blog post that never dies. I wonder if Aruba is out of business yet?
Serafita! You’re on my Christmas list!
January 13th, 2007 06:30
Let’s see, you say we should NOT boycott Aruba even though you say it’s a dangerous hole of a country that no parent should ever let their child visit?
That’s stupid. You small-minded elitist hypocrites are just contradicting yourself.
January 13th, 2007 15:59
Reality:
Small-minded? Seriously? Thats an awfully broad statement to make, and far from true. Of course you’d know that if you spent a few minutes reading the rest of the site.
And, no — I wouldn’t let my child visit without supervision. Even though your statement obviously skews my words to make your own point seem valid, I’ll partially agree with it.
Fact is that there are shopping malls in the United States that I wouldn’t allow my child to visit unsupervised, but I wouldn’t dream of boycotting them. Instead, I’ll be a responsible parent.
January 14th, 2007 08:45
Its not just about Natalee Holloway (by the way people can name their children anything they want to and spell that name any way they choose). I had no idea Americans traveling in some foreign countries can be in such danger. I am very glad to know that the police force in Aruba is so lax and will not investigate unless they are bribed by the victim - and if the perpetrator pays more - they go free. Yes there is danger everywhere and certainly this country is no exception but wouldn’t you want to know that the “protection” is so lax?? I don’t know if I would boycott Aruba - but I would want the people to know what to expect if they get in trouble.
March 17th, 2007 16:29
You cannot prove if Natalie was drunk. Joran or Urin, whatever his name is, told Natalie that he was a student, and all the cabs in town look like regular cars. Natalie’s friends said she did not drink very much. Natalie simply thought she was getting in a cab with Joran and she thought the driver, which was one of the Kalpo brothers was a cab driver. When you look at her pictures she looks like a decent girl. Her skirt was 2 inches above her knees, she had a one piece swimming suit. She had no wild pictures. When I was 18 I use to drink a little and when I met a guy I would get in his car to go out with him and he had friends, and I did not have bad intentions. I just wanted to go out.
March 17th, 2007 16:53
Girl: You are an A-Hole. Natalie could have been drugged after her friends left. And maybe she wasn’t aware that her friends left. How was she to get home, but a cab she thought she was getting into and a guy she thought was another student. Some people say we can’t prove those guys killed her but people are quick to say Natalie was drunk and wild. Joran bad mouthed Natalie. If he was innocent he would be saying, “That poor girl, I hope they catch the person that did it.”
March 17th, 2007 17:03
B-Tate: Natalie was 18 and with over 100 other students and with teachers. When your child turns 18 whe will be an adult and will go wherever she pleases. And Natalie Holloways parents are not idiots. I will back them up 100%. And Aruba did handle the case badly. Beth had to hire people from America to search for her daughter, because Aruba did not search very well and they acted like they didn’t care. They bad mouthed Natalie like she deserved it.
March 19th, 2007 01:57
Wow, this post never seems to die… Just when I think I’ve seen the last moronic comment, I find another one.
Anyone wanna comment on the number of unsolved kidnappings in Alabama? Maybe explain to me why nobody thinks we should boycott them? Oh, wait… Nothing in Alabama worth boycotting anyway.
But, realistically, we could boycott any one of the 50 states. Statistics in each state show thousands of unsolved kidnappings. I’m sure if you reviewed them, hundreds of them were never solved because the were handled poorly.
Ah, well — if only those thousands of unsolved cases were attached to deep-pocketed parents… Maybe then you people would take a minute to give a shit.
March 19th, 2007 16:01
This post really doesn’t die..!
I don’t care how badly Aruba handled it in the beginning - they got on it and did the best they could. It’s not a perfect country (neither is the U.S. btw) and their police force was ‘less than’ motivated. Twitty’s money was a motivational tool, but she now has what is almost a responsibility to donate to causes actually worth something: Foundation for Missing and Exploited Children anyone?
As for what you said DJ, Joran said a few good things about Natalee as well as bad. If I were in his shoes, I don’t think that I could say anything nice either. They interrogated him for hours and hours and pratically forced him to leave the country.
No matter how you feel about his guilt, surely you can understand that any person possibly innocent should not be subjected to pseudo-torture.
February 5th, 2008 06:18
Man if the below is true, god! i can’t believe they stuffed her into a damn crab cage. Geeez! You know she could have been quite alive(faint pulse) just maybe knocked out from the seizures.
“I believe her body was put on the boat in a large crab trap, and then we feel as though they put some rocks in there and took her out there to the deep water,” said Miller.
Aruban aren’t going to give them an arrest warrant. They’d have higher standards to reach now that 2 areest warrants was given. Just like the Feds can easily screw up on their cases as well. That pits them on higher guard but different situation, similar outcome.
Man, that says it all if you were Van der sloot(which sounds like a fish restaurant or something) Keep your clam shut man. But this could be something he enjoys doing and gives a real pant-up story just to keep them going a couple of rounds on a wild goose chase.
February 5th, 2008 06:20
Van der sloot really took the satish brother for a ride by using them as scape goats as well after knocking up natalie and then knocking her out only to stuff her in a crab cage!! GEEEEZ!! GOD!!!
February 5th, 2008 06:23
The van der hootens!! what was that name of the shack where she knocked off a couple of shooters on her belly or something with van der hooten
February 9th, 2008 17:40
He told her you better reconsider “Bitch” or “ho” or “slut” i don’t know what he called her exactly but i think it was “bitch” and “ho”
knocked her up than proceeded to knock her off, maybe smothered her with her own slippers or something
